ERIC “ROSIE” ROSENBAUM

Eric “Rosie” Rosenbaum was introduced to the sport of rugby his freshman year of college by his older sister who later introduced him to among others, Mark Palmer.  Mark, then captain of the club during the late 80’s and early 90’s, told Eric when and where practices were held, and that he should attend.  The rest is history!

As UNL folklore would have it, Rosie is the only UNL player to have started an “A-Side” match at every position which speaks to the versatility of this athlete who turned down a football walk-on opportunity at Colorado State to stay closer to his Nebraska roots in Arlington.  He was however, most effective as a loose forward and played this position for many seasons post-UNL with Lincoln City and later the GOATS where he served as captain for multiple years in the early 2000’s. Further rugby lore would say that he successfully participated in the most “Buck Horn Rolls,” the infamous rugby bar in Laramie, WY without sustaining serious injury.
