DEAN GLOVER

Dean began his rugby career like many of us with zero prior experience.  He played his first match after only one practice, and instantly fell in love with the sport.  Dean played 8-man for UNL between 1985 – ’89 and was elected captain his junior and senior years.  One of his favorite memories was beating KU two times in one season in Lawrence, then going on to win Heart of America.  In the two years prior, they could barely field a team, were scrapping with the rec department for fields, and playing with home-made goal posts.  Needless to say, the club came a long ways!

After graduating with an engineering degree, he would continue to play rugby for the next 15 years around the world. Dean went on to play for the Seoul Survivors (S. Korea), The Bangkok Southerners (Thailand) and finished his career with the Kowloon RFC (Hong Kong) where he played alongside many capped internationals. His favorite tournament was the Manilla, Philippines 10’s.

He most recently came out of retirement to play for Santa Monica RFC in Aspen in the 55+ division. Dean works in Management.  He and his wife Song, whom he met at UNL, have two teenage children and the couple resides in Reno, NV.
