BILL GARVEY

A product of South Sioux City, NE, this former football and wrestler combined his strength and leverage to morph into a formidable force on the rugby field as a multi-use pack player between 1998-‘02.  Aside from hooker, “Glacier or T-Rex” could not only play, but excel at any forward position.  Although he did not move fast, his legs  were always churning thus taking two or three defenders to bring him down.  He was a co-originator of a widely successful charity game versus The University of South Dakota that was played to large crowds on his high school football field during the spring of 1999.

Some of his favorite memories are the many road trips to tournaments and away games, specifically SNAFU in Winnipeg, the Mile High Tournament in Denver, Jackalope, Heart of America in KC as well as the many friendships that developed at one of the numerous “rugby houses” (14th & E, 15th & E, 30th & Vine, 10th & Y to name a few).

Today, Bill lives in his home town where he is a financial advisor with Prudential.  He and his wife Tracy have four daughters.  When he is not coaching his girls’ softball teams, he enjoys spending time at his cabin on Lewis and Clark Lake and smoking meats, which he has generously provided to various rugby functions over the years.
