MARK COE
Year in and year out, Mark had the largest quads and calves on the team. Aside from serious bouts of chaffing, these legs carried him to the Heart of America all-star team as well as getting invited to the Western Select team his senior year. Coming off four years of high school rugby in Omaha, the transition to playing hooker for four years (1996-’99) at UNL was natural. Further, his background in soccer meant this stalky player could hit penalty shots on a dime seemingly from anywhere on the field.
It is only fitting that Mark runs a successful concrete foundation business in Omaha because he ran and hit like he was going through a brick wall. He toured with UNL in the Bahamas as well as throughout the UK with his all-star high school team, the Omaha Griffins. He played for the Omaha GOATS between 2007-‘09 seasons where that squad consistently made deep runs into various regional league and tournament finishes.
Mark, his wife Susan, whom he met while at UNL, and their two teenage children live in Omaha. He is also an avid photographer whose work can be found at @coefosho on Instagram.
***Many of the prints used throughout these posts were because of Mark’s skillful eye. Also used were photographs from the late UNL rugger, Lionel Tay. RIP LT !!!***
