JUSTIN “FLOWBEE” VAHLE

The pride of Rapid City, SD – Justin Vahle (AKA Flowbee) first stepped foot onto a rugby pitch in 1993 for UNL.  Matt Sharp, Jim Crouse and the late Jeff “Maui” Stverak may argue the “pride of Rapid City” moniker as they too were from Rapid City.  Then again, so was Nebraska basketball legend, Eric Piatkowski.  Let’s just say this distinction is up for debate.

While at Nebraska, Flowbee played flyhalf and center between 1993 – ‘97.  He also served as treasurer and president.  He continued his rugby playing career until the ripe old age of 45 playing for clubs in Pennsylvania, Spain, and Washington State.

Vahle currently lives in Kirkland, WA with his wife and one-year old daughter.  He has been instrumental in keeping the club connected over the years with various emails and social media posts.  And yes, his mother did cut his hair with an actual Flowbee that he still owns.
